Happy New Year, lovely readers! I hope your NYE celebrations were full of liquor and illegal activities. Mine were...interesting. My band Nonetheless played a show on New Year's Eve for a National Lampoon party at the Adam's Mark hotel in downtown Dallas. Here was the advertisement for the shindig:

Browse, Contribute, Support Dallas' Nightlife Community Check out our Nightlife & Clubs Group on MySpace too... http://groups.myspace.com/wildondallas Sounds pretty cool, right? And we were there, man. But here was the reality:
- 5 Arrests
- 2 Riots
- 1 Swat Team
- 2 Ambulances (1 Critical)
- 3 Drunken DJs
- 2 Missing Guitars
- 200 Complaints on PUKE ('twas disgusting)
- 150 Hotel Room Parties
- 1 with a DJ & Cover Charge
- 1 Working Elevator (out of, oh, 12 or so)
- 1 Missing Love Sac
- 500 confirmed Strippers (apparently I missed this)
- 1 Nasty Trashed out Dallas Hotel!!
- 10,000 Came - Only 5,000 made it Inside!!
AND, although they told us we'd be going on 2nd, the act that was supposed to go on first utterly refused, and they bullied us into going on first. Before the doors had opened. We thought we'd be playing for 10,000 people, and we ended up playing for about 70. We were pissed. So pissed, in fact, that we had the best show we've ever had, a fact that was repeated to us throughout the night from other bands, party guests who heard us, and a couple of record label executives in attendance. So, who knows? Even though it didn't turn out like we'd hoped, it could turn out better. Hell, the guy from Sony was dancing beside the stage during the show! Now that's what I call positive feedback. I'll keep you posted.
Peace.
